The Chicago Bears announced on Tuesday that they completed an interview with Denver Broncos senior personnel executive David Shaw for their head-coaching position. Shaw has never been a head coach in the NFL, but the 52-year-old was Stanford's head coach from 2011-22 and went 96-54 and won three Pac-12 conference titles in his time in Northern California. Before coaching in the collegiate ranks, Shaw was an assistant coach in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens. The 2024 season was his first in a front-office role with the Broncos. In addition to Shaw, the Bears have already interviewed Thomas Brown, Pete Carroll, Aaron Glenn, Ben Johnson, Mike Kafka, Drew Petzing, Ron Rivera and Anthony Weaver for their head-coach job.
